Chelsea are rumored to be interested in 17-year-old superstar Gianluigi Donnarumma, joining the chase between Juventus and Real Madrid to secure his signature.
The young Italian goalkeeper has been a revelation in the last year. He has secured the AC Milan number one spot before his 18th birthday, and has also been awarded his first cap for his country, where he is seen as a long-term replacement for the legendary but aging Gianluigi Buffon.
His value has subsequently sky-rocketed. According to Italian news outlet Corriere dello Sport via Goal, Milan have raised his existing €40m price tag up to around €60-70m. Any potential suitors will thus have to fork out some serious cash to sign the young prodigy.
Donnarumma is also expected to sign a new contract with Milan on his 18th birthday, which is in February 2017. His agent, the high-profile Mino Raiola, has recently described the young goalkeeper as a 'masterpiece'.
Chelsea's interest does pose some intriguing questions. With Thibaut Courtois the Blues' current number one, it begs the question regarding where Donnarumma will potentially fit in.
It is hard to imagine that Donnarumma will go from Milan's number one to Chelsea's number two. So will Chelsea look to sell Courtois in an attempt to raise the funds needed to bring in the young Italian?
The Belgian's form hasn't reached the heights at Stamford Bridge that it did on loan at Atletico Madrid, and perhaps Antonio Conte would consider swapping him for his fellow countryman.
Only time will tell, but if Chelsea are to sign Donnarumma, they will not only have to prise him away from Milan, but also beat Juventus and Real Madrid to his signature.
